藝術家顧廣毅的計劃繼續他對野生動物與傳統飲食文化之間衝突的研究興趣。他將創建一個全新的項目「蝙蝠筵席實驗室」,以反映他一直致力於解決的環境問題,以及思索當前可能源自於一座海鮮市場的 COVID-19 大流行。 蝙蝠筵席實驗室計畫將以「蝙蝠」為研究對象,旨在與蝙蝠科學家等專家合作,共同探討疫情期間科學研究所反映的各種文化問題。一些科學研究表明,關於蝙蝠是否是冠狀病毒感染的源頭,仍有爭論的餘地。然而,蝙蝠逐漸被視為疫情的待罪羔羊。因此,許多從事蝙蝠生態保護的專家在努力中遇到了許多障礙。此外,蝙蝠在不同地區有著不同的文化內涵,比如中國的「幸福」諧音符號,西方的吸血鬼文化等等,因此,疫情期間蝙蝠的新文化形象會朝哪個方向發展也成為本項目的研究方向之一。 蝙蝠作為食物在泰國、印度尼西亞、帕勞等東南亞和太平洋國家很常見,因此,當我們試圖從傳統的飲食文化中看待蝙蝠時,有必要探索更多的東南亞飲食文化。藝術家顧廣毅希望通過與各種東南亞藝術家的合作,擴大飲食文化研究方法的多樣性。 蝙蝠筵席實驗室是一場參與性的表演,邀請來自不同背景的公眾和專家在投機場景中共同創造另一種吃蝙蝠的方式。該項目旨在通過將投機設計、新興生物技術和沈浸式劇院相結合的跨學科實踐,引發關於吃野味的飲食文化的公開辯論。

Artist Kuang-Yi Ku plans to continue his research interest in the conflict between wild animal poaching and traditional food culture. He will create a brand new project “Bat Food Feast” to reflect the environmental issues that he has been working on and the current COVID-19 pandemic which might originate from a wet market.
“Bat Food Feast'' will take “bats” as the research target, aiming to cooperate with bat scientists and other experts to explore various cultural issues reflected by scientific research during the pandemic period. Some scientific research indicates that there are still rooms for debate on whether bats are the source of coronavirus infection. However, bats have gradually been regarded as the scapegoat of the epidemic. Therefore, many experts engaged in bat ecological conservation have encountered many obstacles in their efforts. Besides, bats have different cultural connotations in different regions, such as the homophonic symbol of "happiness" in China, the vampire culture in the western world, etc. Hence, which direction of the new cultural image of bats will be developed during the epidemic also becomes one of the research directions in this project.
Bat as food is common in Southeast Asia and Pacific countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Palau, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to explore more food culture in Southeast Asia when we try to view bats from traditional food culture. Ku hopes to expand the diversity of research approaches to food culture through cooperation with various Southeast Asian artists.
“Bat Food Feast” will be a participatory performance that invites the general public and experts from different backgrounds to co-create alternative ways of eating bats in a speculative scenario. This project aims to raise a public debate regarding the food culture of eating the wilds by an interdisciplinary practice of combining speculative design, emerging biotechnologies and immersive theatre altogether.

藝術家顧廣毅在台灣台北出生長大,自 2016 年起定居荷蘭。畢業於Design Academy Eindhoven 社會設計碩士,為第三個碩士學位;國立陽明大學牙科專業;和實踐大學的傳播設計。 藝術家顧廣毅以前是一名牙醫,現在是一名生物藝術家和社會設計師。他創立了TW BioArt(台灣生物藝術社群),以刺激台灣的生物藝術和科學+藝術領域。他的作品經常涉及人體、性、種間互動和醫療技術,旨在研究技術、個人和環境之間的關係。 藝術家顧廣毅的Tiger Penis Project 獲得了 2018 年 Gijs Bakker 獎,這是Design Academy Eindhoven 碩士研究生頒發的年度最佳項目獎。 2015年,他的作品The Fellatio Modification Project 獲得了台北數位藝術節首獎,該項目將身體改造、性別研究、酷兒理論和牙科融為一體。其作品曾被國際媒體報導,包括New Scientist、The Huffington Post、Elephant Magazine、DAMN° Magazine、Dezeen、and Designboom、VICE、Dazed Digital, Daily Mail與 New York Post。

Kuang-Yi Ku was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, and has been based in the Netherlands since 2016. He graduated with triple master degrees in social design from Design Academy Eindhoven; in dentistry from National Yang-Ming University; and in Communication Design from Shih Chien University. Formerly a dentist, Ku is a bio-artist and social designer. He founded TW BioArt (a Taiwan bioart community) to stimulate the fields of BioArt and Science + Art in Taiwan. His works often deal with the human body, sexuality, interspecies interactions, and medical technology, and aim to investigate the relationships among technology, individuals, and the environment.
Kuang-Yi Ku’s “Tiger Penis Project” was awarded the 2018 Gijs Bakker Award, the annual prize for the best project by a graduating master’s student in Design Academy Eindhoven. He also won First Prize in the Taipei Digital Art Awards in 2015 with “The Fellatio Modification Project,” in which body modification, gender studies, queer theory, and dentistry all come together. Ku’s works have been featured in international media ranging from New Scientist, The Huffington Post, Elephant Magazine, DAMN° Magazine, Dezeen, and Designboom, to VICE, Dazed Digital, Daily Mail, and the New York Post.
